Zhang Yueying’s research focuses on leveraging XR technologies and gamified approaches to enhance the presentation and interpretation of cultural heritage sites. She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s studies at the School of Architecture, Southeast University, with her Master’s research conducted at the Institute of Architectural History and Theory. She has applied gamified AR across diverse heritage contexts, including industrial heritage along the Grand Canal, the historic urban district of Nanjing East Road, and the religious and cultural heritage complex comprising the Pu-Jing Temples and the Confucius Temple in Quanzhou. Through these projects, she has contributed to developing a framework that addresses the technical and theoretical challenges of designing gamified AR platforms for site-specific heritage contexts, aiming to communicate the diverse and complex values of cultural heritage to the public. Her work has been presented at international conferences such as the Computer-Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia (CAADRIA 2023) and the Education and Research in Computer-Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe 2024), and published in the journal Buildings.
